Charline Adele Edwards Birth Certificate

Birthday

Charline was born on October 16, 1921 in Arlington, Texas.

I guess they weren’t prepared for a name.

A great 2nd wedding anniversary gift for Charles and Myrtle.

Moved to Dallas, Texas

1922 Myrtle, Charles, and Charline moved to Dallas from Arlington.

I wonder if her instructor, Virginia Self, was related to Doctor Self of the Self Veterinary Clinic a few lots north on Oak Cliff Blvd.

Death

Her death certificate says it was from cirrhosis of the liver (non alcoholic). Disease onset says June 1938. Charline had exploratory surgery on October 13, 1938. Charline was buried Calvary Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum in Dallas.

Notes: Her obituary in Arlington Journal said that had been “after several months of illness.” In trying to find out how long Charline had been sick, we see her listed in the French club in her Sunset High School 1936 freshman yearbook, and it says she’d going to be a 1939 graduate. She isn’t listed in 1937, 1938 or 1939 yearbooks. So we don’t know if she left due to illness, or went to another school. She did not move.

It was said that when the family doctor saw Carol Edwards he said, “The last time I saw you, you were a very sick young lady” thinking Carol was Charline. It was also said that when the maid saw Carol she screamed and cried, because she thought she looked so much like Charline. Until then Al, her brother) had not noticed any resemblance of his wife Carol to Charlene.
