Steven Fields Edwards
May 25, 1950 – November 23, 2018

Steven Fields Edwards of Waxahachie completed his finale to fanfare and applause on November 23rd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Fields Edwards and Carol Elizabeth Edwards (née Gabel), and his brother, Howard Christopher Edwards. He is survived by his brothers, Charles (wife Ki) Gabel Edwards of Dallas and William (wife Engela) Alfred Edwards of Captain Cook, Hawaii; Howard’s wife Martel of Red Oak; his daughters Jessica Marie Edwards of Thousand Oaks, California and Nicole (husband Chris) Leigh Rotenberry of Savannah, Texas; grandchildren Rhiannon, Luke, Reese, and Wyatt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was an independent father and caretaker of his two daughters. He raised, loved, and taught them in Thousand Oaks, California, and his remains will return there to rest. He was a salesman and inventor, receiving his first of five patents at the age of 25. He collaborated with German and Japanese inventors and his patents are still cited today by companies such as IBM, Microsoft, LG and Delta.  He loved music and shared that love with his family, singing and playing “Here Comes the Sun” on his guitar to help his daughters sleep. He was a kind man who valued self-reliance and was loved by many.
